Birding
Hey Everyone, I hope everyone had a wonderful first week to the new year. I know here where I live we had a bit of action with the weather. No snow yet unfortunately but we might see it this week fingers crossed. I have been enjoying exploring parks around me and seeing the wildlife around. I started birding last year around November and I have enjoyed every moment. I have learn so much about birds and seeing them out in the wild is something beautiful to see. I am planning to expand on my birding portfolio and adding new birds that I have not featured yet. I am planning of going out into the forest and camping out trying to find owls. I have not had luck capturing a good photo of the eagles as well. I already know I have to be more patient and keep trying and that’s exactly what I been doing.
I have been editing a lot of pictures I’ve yet to share. I want to make sure I have pictures to share on social media as well and if you aren’t following me it’s @capture_moment5. I have been putting off planning out my new project to focus on research to find owls and eagles so I been pretty busy. I am thankful that my medication is finally starting to take effect and I am feeling alright. After, I had covid last year I was struggling with my MS symptoms and had a lot of pain all the way leading up to my medication. I still struggled though for a couple of days especially because they canceled my insurance until January I had no pain medication. I feel great now though and I am ready to get things going. I don’t know why but I always want to be busy it helps distract your thoughts and also helps accomplish your goals.
That’s why this year I have challenged myself with a couple of things. 1) I definitely want to get a mentor that can help me with film photography. I know film photography is a lot more technical and you have to know how to meter light. To make sure my project comes out the best I can I know I will need help. 2) I want to continue birding, but also expand to sports, street, product and portrait photography. I love photography as a whole and would love to learn new styles. Being very versatile is my main goal. 3) Finish my project is a big goal this year. I am still planning out the project but what I can say is that it’s a book about my journey with MS told through the eyes of my lens. I am planning to shoot this project in all black and white film. I will definitely keep y’all updated on my process and will definitely make a big announcement once the project is ready to go.
I have many more goals but can’t share everything because I want it to be a surprise. I will also probably start vlogging my adventures and journey in my projects to youtube. I do visit a lot of parks around the DMV that I feel like you will enjoy seeing the interesting wildlife and birds I run into. I have seen some very interesting things in my journey and have been wanting to share it with y’all. I will be adding a donate button to the website where anyone can go and donate to help me complete this projects. I am fully doing this out of pocket and it gets very expensive. I was thinking of adding a subscription based feature in my website to allowed you early access to certain options but I am still working on what exactly I want to make it worth it for you. If you have any suggestions or want to give me feedback you can reach out to me on Instagram or here I am very active and love hearing feedback.
I hope to soon have a couple film shots to share with you and maybe walk you through how I edit the photos? The reason why I hesitate to start the youtube channel is because I am very awkward in front of the camera but I am working on this. I want to take my craft as far as life allows me to so thanks everyone who supports me. This photo I took I took the same day I took last weeks photo at burke lake park. The ring-billed gull is a really photogenic bird. I was amaze of how close I got and no reaction this bird is very fearless. Did you know that the genus name for the ring billed gull is Larus? they are usually found near lakes, rivers or the coast of Canada and Northern US. This bird is regarded as a pest by many beach goers because of how willing they are to stealing unguarded food. A very beautiful fearless bird indeed. I found this in the dock that’s in Burke Lake Park in Fairfax, VA. During my visit to Burke Lake Park I and another photographer got to witness and young bald eagle flying over head looking for dinner. This day unfortunately wasn’t to active is definitely a treat to go out and see nature. That’s what I believe has been one of the best joys of going out and exploring. Seeing nature in action makes you realize how beautiful this world that we live in is. I have even found a bird that has become my favorite and that’s why I feature him in my first bird print drop the red-headed woodpecker! I also, can’t forget the cute white-throated sparrow. There’s so many to see and if you like this fun facts let me know and I will continue them when I post a bird picture.
Hope everyone has an awesome week, and I will see you next week!
