Great Falls Overlook 1
I started photography 1 year ago. My first ever picture i took that made me want to learn photography was the gorgeous waterfall in Great Falls National Park. I have use it as a point of reference of where i am and how much i have advanced in my photography learning. I am a Salvadorian born photographer and i decided to start this website to share my pictures and show my progress in my photography journey! I also want to share stories and interesting details of every one of my images.
My name is Ismael Garcia and i am a photographer based in the Dmv area. I was diagnosed with MS in 2019 and lost a lot of hopes and dreams. I was in a dark place for quite some time. One day my family and I decided to go for a hike and went to Great Falls National Park. That day I ended up capturing a picture that i loved while it wasn’t perfect the feeling of accomplishment was a nice feeling i hadn’t felt in awhile. That feeling drove me to buy books, join classes and watch videos in all things photography. A year later my passion has grown and made me want to keep learning more and more. My ultimate goal is to become a film photographer.
This picture was taken on a rainy Monday morning. I woke up very early to see how it was looking outside, I loved the lighting the morning sunrise was giving so i decided to start gathering my gear and got ready to go. I was excited about the possibilities with the lighting I enjoy shooting on cloudy rainy mornings. I arrived at Great Falls and started making my way to overlook 3. I tried many different compositions and i wasn’t feeling like i had capture the right angle. I started walking around until i got to overlook 1 and decided to climb some rocks until i was able to capture the perfect composition.
This is one of my most rewarding pictures. To see how far i’ve come after all the time I have dedicated to learning my craft. I hope you like this gorgeous waterfall and next time you are in the Dmv area check out Great Falls National Park in Mclean, Virginia.
