Spring Is Here!
It’s been awhile, I have definitely put blogs to the side as I been focusing on my photography. I wanted to improve certain aspects of my photography and the results have been mind blowing. I feel like my image quality Is improving and is all because of the research I been doing. Since the beginning I been very careful the way I shoot photos I run through a full checklist before even starting a shoot so I know what my settings are. Based on this info I see if any mistakes were made and based on my settings I search up what I did wrong if I mess up a shot. This is my favorite part of photography learning and implementing what you have learn to use. Im applying the same discipline as I started learning videography. This past month a magazine reached out wanting to tell my story, here is the link to the article: https://canvasrebel.com/meet-ismael-garcia-gonzalez/
I want to talk a bit more about this photo because this photo came out as good as it did because of a small mistake I made. Earlier this year I was reviewing all my photos and as I was going through all the shots that I have taken I noticed one inconsistency in all of them. I was struggling with low light photos. It was such a problem that I miss really good shots for simply not knowing what exposure bracketing is. I been very consistent with identifying my mistakes up to this point but I could not figure out how to use my setting to fix this. One day as I was on Youtube searching to see how I could fix it and I ran into a video that change everything for me. This is the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYXOyxstYSo . This video solved a lot of issues that I was having and now the results have been absolutely outstanding. However, I have made some silly mistakes but the results have been great as well. On the day I took this photo I set out early to DC, the morning that daylight savings kicked in. The lighting was perfect and I started my checklist making sure all my settings were correct. Even following a checklist though you are bound to make mistakes. My mistake was forgetting to actually set my bracket to compensate for the light. I corrected the mistake but once I started editing I noticed that this set look much better. All 3 photos I took were shot at the same exposure just with different focus points to make sure everything was focus properly. For any new photographer starting off my biggest tip I could give you is make sure to take time to learn your camera. Make sure you know the exposure triangle and what each setting of your camera does. There are hidden settings that allow your camera to achieve its best potential. You can achieve this on most digital cameras sold today if you want to invest in something expensive to elevate your photo spend it on getting good lenses. I shoot on a 24-70mm and a 100-400mm. I find I use the 24-70mm but i’m always glad to have my 100-400mm on me in case my subjects are a bit far away or if I want to compress a photo.
I have started learning how to edit videos as well. I am trying to elevate my country and the only way I know how to do that is by continuing to teach myself and push my craft to reach new heights. The way this year has started for me has been great I am so confident now in the skills i’ve learned that I tackle each shot with a positive mindset. I have been using this boost in confidence in other aspects of my life as well. If you ask me if I have a love for music i’ll jump up with a smile in my face and answer with a firm yes! I grew up very poor with only a few toys and a TV I loved so much. When I was sad I would turn on my small TV to watch sports, movies, or music videos. That TV kept me company for years and coming here to America I remember being at awe with how many TV’s there were everywhere. It was watching shows like SpongeBob that I learn English and quite fast as well. I have always love and admire the ability that we humans have to come up and create something that entertains everyone. From boosting someone’s mood with a song to bringing a smile to someone’s face with a joke in a set scene. We humans are all amazing individuals. Music and movies have always been a huge part in my life as I always found that either could boost my mood. Ever since I found my passion this loves of mind have taken a front seat as well as i’ve used both to continue to inspire me in my future endeavors.
I will be updating my portfolios here soon a lot of amazing shots this March alone and have plenty more plan for April. I hope to be back at the end of April with some great news until then, please make sure you are following on instagram to keep up with all the amazing shots i’ve taken lately: @capture_moment5.
