Seneca Regional Park

This past month has been a bit rough for me. Not only was I extremely busy all month but half the time i was sick. MS has a lot of downsides. I get an infusion every 6 months to keep my symptoms somewhat controlled. I been experimenting with a variety of different treatments until finally landing on one. It’s a great medication but in the past I’ve had an allergic reaction to the medication and now require to prep 3 days prior to my infusions. The biggest downside is the fact that this medication is an Immunosuppressant which just means that all your anti bodies your body uses to fight off infections is non existent because of this medication. So i constantly have to be keeping up with my vaccines to make sure i have some sort of protection if i do get ill.

I had been very careful with covid the past 3 years. Until last week that i started feeling very ill and tested positive for covid. I’ve had 4 covid vaccine and honestly i feel like they helped but it was still rough. I am still having issues with my taste and I feel like i run out of breath very quickly. Today was my first day off since being back to work and my first thought was to go for a hike. As i was sick i was able to work on editing a big bulk of pictures i have which will eventually go up on this website. I also had time to work on this website which was one of my main goals to show off my progress and also share some of my life. I love writing just as much as i love to take photographs. I was working on writing a book while also learning photography it got a bit overwhelming so this blog is a way to fuse both of my favorite hobbies together. I am working on making my photography my career but i know everything takes time.

Yesterday when i decided to go for a hike i do what i normally do and started researching hiking trails near me. Which is something i highly recommend if you are planning to go do a hike. Go explore the area around you sometimes there is beautiful scenery that is missed because we don’t do research. I decided to look at the maps and found a name that i wasn’t very familiar with Seneca Regional Park. Looking through the pictures on google i saw a lot of spots that look very promising. I got prepared a night before because i was feeling very exhausted from work and wanted all the sleep i could get.

Driving to the park i pass by very nice mansions the Great Falls area has a lot of beautiful houses and it’s always a treat to see when driving by. This park is very unique it doesn’t have an entrance or any signs saying you have arrived. It’s literally at the end of the road where the trails start. If you are ever in the area and want to check it out i highly suggest a printed map with all the trails on it. I did not go prepared, this park had a board at the beginning that shows all the trails but does not have any indicators on where they start or at least i did not noticed any. I also happen to choose a day when the Fairfax County Fire Department was doing training in the water so they were a lot of vehicles around so i decided to just find my way as i go. Horrible idea don’t recommend it. Yes, all trails do loop around but part of the trail there is climbing involved and if you are not following the right trail it can get very steep.

I, of course took the wrong way and took the nice way down but the way back up was very difficult. However, once you get to the bottom of the trail hearing the potomac river and seeing it up close makes it all worth it. There is also a lot of warning signs in regards to poison ivy so just be careful. Overall, hike was very beautiful and i enjoyed every moment of it. I will definitely be back to do the rest of the trails the scenery here is gorgeous and worth exploring a bit more. Great Falls has surprise me every time i go explore somewhere new. I have enjoyed every second of it it’s so beautiful. And to think all this trails are just 20 minutes from my home. Will definitely be exploring it a lot more and capture more moments for me to share. And don’t forget to give Seneca Regional Park a try.
